Welcome to Carl's Fishing Guide Service Professional fishing guide trips for Muskie, Northern Pike, Walleye,Perch and Smallmouth Bass on beautiful Lake of the Woods in Ontario Canada
Hello my name is Carl Holm I have been fishing since I was able to hold a rod and reel. I grew up on my fathers tug boat delivering gas and propane to camps all over the Lake of the Woods, in Ontario Canada, and when I got older my father and I would haul pulpwood log booms over a mile long across the mighty Lake of the Woods to the Kenora pulp and paper mill. We were the last ones to do so on inland waters, the end of an era.
I also have had my own boat and motor since I was 9 years old. By the time I turned 12, my favorite walleye holes were 20 miles down the lake.
I started professionally guiding around 25 years ago for camps in the Kenora, Sioux Narrows and Nestor Falls area. I really like to be on the water as much as possible.
So, if you want a guide that has over 45 years experience on Lake of the Woods and really likes to have fun out on the water give me a call or email me.
About Your Lake of the Woods, Ontario Canada Fishing Trip and Where To Stay
I primarily guide out of Kenora, Ontario Canada where I have resided all my life, there are many options to where you can stay from an RV park and campsite to an Inn that’s right on the lake. If a more private and secluded setting is more your style there are many camps on the lake to stay at. You can contact me for more information.
I fish out of an 18 ½ foot StarCraft Superfisherman fishing boat with a 200 Evinrude HO. The boat also has a top cover and side curtains for when it’s raining and is a very comfortable boat to ride in.It is also equipped with a stereo for the boat ride. There is enough room for four people to fish muskies easily. I can put up to 6 people if we are just jigging for walleyes, perch, northern
A fresh fish shorelunch can be provided for a small fee. Live bait is also included and rods and reels are available free of charge. Jigs are supplied and you are welcome to my wide variety of lures.
Lake Of The Woods
Gods Country probably sums it up best with its 14,500 islands and 65,000 miles of shoreline. Making Lake of the Woods the second biggest lake in Ontario. It also has more shoreline than Lake Superior. Deep clear pristine waters reaching depths well over 160 feet are in Clearwater Bay and Whitefish Bay. Shallow, muddy and sandy bays with rock boulder points are an anglers paradise. For the sun worshipers, a private beach is never far away. The sunsets are also spectacular and when the stars come out at night it is simply breathtaking.
About Fishing on Lake of the Woods in Ontario Canada
Early spring is the time to fish northern pike in the shallows. I like to fish Lake of the woods in the spring for the toothy critters. Small spoons, rattle traps and jerkbaits work very well. Catching a 40 inch northern pike is almost an everyday occurrence and some days maybe 3 or 4 will be caught.
Bass are abundant in Lake of the woods area as well. At times the fishing can be incredible.
Walleyes are abundant all over Lake of the Woods. I just happen to know where many underwater humps are that they missed when they made the contour maps. So catching a 30 incher is a real possibility in my boat.
Finally but not forgotten the MIGHTY MUSKY. I simply love to watch somebody get their first musky or even better yet their first 50 incher. I spend most of my time on the water chasing them. Some people even say I got muskyideus!!!!!
So gather up your rods... Grab your tackle box and come on up to Lake of the Woods in Ontario Canada and have yourself a trip of a lifetime.
